Services – “Emotional”
I must confess, I fell for Border Collie’s before my own reactive dog came into the picture. Those eyes, a gateway into a genius mind, ready to be molded into the love machine that it was bred to be.
Ooop’s, you adopted a herding/stock/cattle dog and had the best of intentions, still do! Unfortunately they are out-of-control and you need help.

What are “Adaptive Herding Techniques” AHT is force-free coaching that use herding commands to navigate your dog’s behaviour, literally. I teach you, how to control your herding dog using herding commands. This way you are tapping into the genetics of your dog instead of stopping what they were born to do. Stop saying no! Start saying “Away or Come by” when you need to divert your herding dogs attention away from the distractions. You are literally steering your herding dogs attention like a car, telling your dog what to do at every turn. Especially when your hands are full, use these commands to get your dogs attention, and they will give you their best.

Watch how much fun we have as McLovin and I humanely herd these geese and satiates the herding instinct in him. This explains how teaching your dog herding commands can teach you how to control your dog.

Mental
In order to change a dogs behaviour we need to access CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Training) in order to stimulate the generation of brain cells. Neurogenesis occurs by triggering their 5 senses. When we practice herding techniques we are specifically targeting the behaviour we want AND do not want.
-“give them a job with foundational circles”
-“a new name” transition
-pack leader mentality
-gentle leader transition
-confidence building
-address the satiation to herd
-practice herding commands in real life situations
-train basic obedience before we leave the house

Physical
No other way to satiate a herding dog than to add cardio and sports drills to their regular routine.
In most cases I deal with reactive dogs by doing jogging with them to see how they cope. Exercise is the fastest way to change unwanted behaviour and I customize their excercise routine weekly.
Some jobs and some fun.
-learn how to use a blanket to satiate their biting and nipping
-learn how to heard geese humanely
-slow your dog down before they cross the road
-stop lunging & jumping
-face their fears of cars by coaching in the parking lot
-you must own the door threshold
-teach your dog the concept of “space” for your own space and your childrens
-the most important recall “come & inside)

Spiritual
Herding dogs were bred for herding in Scotland, period. Humans domesticated the Border Collie and now we have super intelligent, spider man agility and bouncy dogs who have need exercise. They need to herd in some capacity. That is why, in most cases, the dogs I work with need a job.
Once they feel that quest to herd has been met then you will see a satiated herding dog. That need to fulfill genetics makes them yearn for tasks, and approval. Spiritually, fulfilling one’s purpose to live, is completely the life cycle of the animal.
It’s the way of the Indigenous People, animals come first, human needs second. But the bond between human and dog is unlike anything you’ll get from a human.
-develop trust
-Adaptive Herding Techniques to touch the soul
-Feeling useful and loved
